HealthInsight serves as the Quality Innovation Network-Quality Improvement Organization (QIN-QIO) for Nevada. In this role, and under CMS’ 11th Scope of Work, HealthInsight provides invaluable support to NRHP and its members on healthcare quality improvement activities.
Managed by HealthInsight, HealtHIE Nevada is a private, nonprofit, community-based organization dedicated to connecting the Nevada health care community by managing an accurate real time health information exchange.
Livanta serves as the Beneficiary and Family Centered Care-Quality Improvement Organization (BFCC-QIO) for Nevada. Under CMS’ 11th Scope of Work, BFCC-QIOs are responsible for case review.
University of Nevada School of Medicine (UNSOM)
The University of Nevada School of Medicine was established in 1969 by the Nevada State Legislature as a community-based medical school with a mission of educating primary care physicians for rural Nevada. Its mission is improving the health of Nevada’s diverse population through an innovative curriculum, competitive residency and fellowship programs and world-class biomedical research that complement a statewide network of urban and rural clinical facilities. UNSOM’s Office of Statewide Initiatives supports this mission through active community engagement and programs which increase access to care statewide. NRHP works closely with the Office of Statewide Initiatives through the following offices and programs:
Office of Rural Health (ORH)
The Nevada Office of Rural Health is dedicated to improving the health of rural Nevadans and serves as a focal point for a variety of programs. Key functions are to provide coordination and technical assistance for rural Nevadans seeking health resources, conduct community development activities, and advocate for rural health issues.
Nevada Flex Program
The Medicare Rural Hospital Flexibility Program (FLEX Program) was created by the Balanced Budget Act of 1997. Administered by the Federal Office of Rural Health Policy (ORHP), the FLEX Program provides grants to states to assist rural hospitals and communities. NRHP is a sub-recipient of the Nevada Flex Program funds.
The Nevada Office of Rural Health administers the Nevada Small Rural Hospital Improvement Program (SHIP) grant, which provides support to small rural hospitals with implementation of delivery system changes. The Nevada SHIP Program is managed through a subcontract with NRHP.
Nevada Telehealth Network
NRHP works with the Office of Rural Health to support the Nevada Telehealth Network, which provides opportunities for telemedicine by utilizing a network of interactive video sites across the state.
Area Health Education Centers (AHEC)
The AHEC program aims to enhance access to quality health care, particularly primary and preventative care, by improving the supply and distribution of health care professional through community and academic educational partnerships.
Project ECHO is an innovative telehealth initiative which aims to develop the knowledge base of primary care providers through consultations with specialists. The goal of Project ECHO Nevada is to meet the needs of these providers by offering an alternative to costly travel and long wait times for patients who need specialty care.
