Congratulations to Tahoe Forest Hospital in Truckee, California for receiving five stars from CMS for patient experience! Star ratings were assigned to 3,478 hospitals based on the Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (HCAHPS) survey scores, and of those only 266 received five stars. Judy Newland is the Chief Operating Officer of Tahoe Forest Hospital and the Administrator of NRHP member hospital Incline Village Community Hospital. Ms. Newland also serves as Chair of the NRHP Board.
In addition, both Banner Churchill Community Hospital in Fallon, Nevada and Carson Valley Medical Center in Gardnerville, Nevada received four stars. Of note, eight NRHP member hospitals do not have large enough volume of survey results to receive a star rating. However, HCAHPS scores are reviewed as group through the Nevada Rural Hospital Quality Improvement Network, a Medicare Rural Hospital Flexibility (Flex) grant funded activity, in order to develop patient experience improvement methods. HCAHPS vendors are supported by the Small Rural Hospital Improvement Grant Program (SHIP).
