AB348, which made changes to working conditions at medical facilities relating to occupational safety and health, was passed by the Legislature during the 2019 Legislative Session. Dubbed the “Workplace Violence” bill, AB348 requires facilities to develop and carry out a plan for the prevention of workplace violence and report incidents of workplace violence to the Division of Industrial Relations of the Department of Business and Industry.

Certain incidents of violence must also be reported to OSHA under Standard 1904.39(a)(2), which states that a report must be made within 24 hours after the in-patient hospitalization of one or more employees or an employee’s amputation or loss of eye as a result of a work-related incident.
